In the Absences window, you may record an absence for a single student or for a group of students. To locate the student in question, you may search by his/her student ID code, christian name, surname, or any other piece of information available to you at the time, and then (if there are multiple returns) it is a matter of simply scrolling through a short list of the possibilities. This is a standard Absences window : 
The Absences feature in Alternative Office is flexible enough to cater for almost any possibility, from a student being late to school for missing the bus, or having to leave school early to go to a dentist appointment, to taking the week off for a reason stated by his/her parent/guardians letter, and that the parent wishes that reason not to be mentioned in any reports.
